Palpayasam in a Simple way

Ingredients 

Milk 1 litre

Sugar 500 gram

Rice 100 gram

Cashewnuts 2 tablespoon

Butter (ghee-prified butter) 3 tablespoon

Preparation

Boil 2 litre water and 1 litre milk in a thick-bottomed vessel stirring continuously.

When the milk begins to boil add the rice and cook it on low flame stirring the ingredients continuously to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the vessel and burning.

Add sugar and cook till the payasam reaches the required consistency.

Split the cashew nuts and fry them in butter and mix to the payasam and remove from flame.

 A pinch salt adds to the taste of payasam.

You can add 4 cardamom pods at the beginning, while cooking the milk to get a pleasant flavour.

Can be served warm or cold.
