Chilli Chicken (Travancore style)

Ingredients

Chicken (boneless) 1 kg.
Onion Sliced 250 gm.
Green chillies chopped 1 Tbsp.
Garlic chopped 1 Tbsp.
Dried red chillies 5 Nos.
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp.
Pepper powder 1 tsp.
Corn flour 1 Tbsp.
all-purpose flour 2 Tbsp.
Tomato sauce 2 Tbsp.
water 1/2 litre
Salt to Taste

Preparation

Mix all purpose flour, corn flour, pepper powder and salt into a paste and add the chicken pieces to the paste and mix well till all the chicken pieces are covered with the paste and allow to marinate for an hour or two.
Heat oil in a pan and fry the chicken pieces and keep aside.
now heat 3 Tbsp. oil in a pan, add garlic, green chillies, onions and broken red chillies and saute for 2 minutes.  Now add Turmeric powder and tomato sauce and mix well.  add 250 ml. water, and allow to boil stirring well.  Add the fried chicken and mix well.  Allow to boil till the excess water, if any, is evaporated and the chilli chicken reaches the desired consistency.  Remove from heat and serve.
