Black Halva using All-purpose Flour

Ingredients

All-purpose flour 500 gm.
grated coconut 2 nos(2 cups)
Butter 250 gm.
Jaggery 2 kg. (Brown sugar/Cane sugar)
Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp.
Cashew nuts 200 gm.

Preparation

Mix the all-purpose flour with water adding water little by little in 4 litre water.  Sieve it using a linen cloth and keep aside.
Now melt the jaggery/sugar in a heavy bottomed vessel adding 1 litre water and sieve it to remove any unmelted objects in it and keep in a thick bottomed pan.
extract the coconut milk out of the grated coconut adding 2 ltrs. of water and sieve it and pour it to the jaggery water.  Add the flour-water mix to the vessel and mix together.
Now boil the ingredients on low heat stirring well till its volume reduces to half.  Add the butter and cook it further.  Now be careful to stir well.  Otherwise the ingredients may stick to the bottom of the vessel and burn.
Add the cashew nuts, vanilla essence and cardamom powder, mix well and cook till the mix reaches a thick consistency.
Grease a tray with butter and spread the cooked Halva batter evenly, garnish with a few cashew nuts and allow to cool.  When cooled cut into desired shapes and serve.
