Samabar Powder
Now a days we are buying instant curry
powder mixes for each and every curry from the market. The taste of your samabr or your chicken curry
is pre-planned by the curry powder company. In former days each ingredient of the masala
mix was prepared and ground at the time of cooking, and it gave the curries a
certain freshness and personal touch. In
modern times it may not be possible to prepare and grind the masala mix each
time, but preparing them yourselves will certainly give the curries a personal
touch.

personal sambar powder.
Ingredients for Samabar
Powder
Red chillies Dried 10-15 nos
Coriander 100 gmThoor dal 100 gm
Fenugreek seeds 2 tsp
Urad dal 2 tbsp
Fennel seeds 1 tsp
Mustard seeds 1 tbsp
Pepper seeds 1 tbsp
Curry leaves 2-4 sprig
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Asafoetida powder 1 tsp
Preparation
Heat a pan and dry roast each
ingredient (except turmeric powder and Asafoetida powder) separately on low flame
and allow to cool. Now add all the
ingredients to a mixer grinder, (turmeric and asafoetida powder also) and grind
to a fine powder.
After grinding spread it on a flat
surface and allow to cool. When cooled store
in air tight containers and use whenever needed.
