Aam Panna
(Unripe Mango Drink)
Aam panna
is a renowned Indian drink with great thirst quenching and heat resisting
properties. Prepared along with sugar
and spices it is rich in vitamins and keeps the body fit in the summer heat
preventing excessive loss of sodium chloride and iron.
Ingredients
Unripe
mangoes 250 grams
Water 500
ml.Sugar 250 gram
Black salt 1 tsp
Cumin powder 1 tsp
Mint leaves – chopped 2 tbsp
Preparation
Peel, slice
and cut the mangoes into small pieces.
Boil water
in a deep pan, add sugar to it and stir well till the sugar is fully
dissolved. Add the mango pieces to it
and cook till the mango pieces become tender.
The take off from the heat and allow to cool.
Blend the
cooked mangoes well using a mixer grinder, add salt and cumin seeds powder as
per your taste.
Dilute with
cold water or carbonated water and serve.
Garnish with a few mint leaves.
Black salt
also known as kala namak in Hindi is a sort of volcanic rock salt which is used
in Indian cooking. It has a special
flavour of sulphur and gives a special pungency to certain Indian dishes and
drinks.
