Ingredients

Rava
150 gm
All-purpose flour
200 gm
Rice powder (roasted)
250 gm
Yeast
½ tsp
Milk (luke warm/half heated)
100 ml
Sugar
1 tbsp
Baking powder
½ tsp
Sugar
150 gm
Chopped onion
5 Nos
Shallots
5 Nos
Cumin seeds
½ tsp
Water
As needed
Salt
To taste

 

Preparation

Mix yeast and sugar in milk-mix well and set aside.

Mix Rava all-purpose flour, rice flour and yeast milk mix to a fine batter and set aside to rise for at least 6-8 hours.

When the batter is risen add baking powder, sugar, chopped onion, cumin seeds and salt and mix all together.

Pour the batter into trays or plates and steam cook. Fill the plates up to 2-3 x 3 cm batter that the appam rises in volume when cooked.
