Mango kichadi



 

Kichadis have a sweet note of taste and it is normally prepared using fruits rather than unripe vegetables.

 

Ingredients

 

Ripe mango a large one

Green chillies chopped 3 nos

Turmeric powder ¼ tsp

Jiggery or sugar 1 Tbsp.

Grated coconut 2 nos

Mustard seeds ½ tsp

Curry leaves 1 sprig

Oil 1 tbsp

 

Preparation

Grind grated coconut and cumin seeds into a fine paste and keep aside.

 

Peel the mango and cut it into small pieces.  Chop the green chillies finely.

Cook the mango pieces and green chillies in a vessel adding enough water and Turmeric powder.  When done add the sugar/jiggery.  Add the ground coconut paste and mix well and remove from heat.

Heat oil in a pan and fry the mustard seeds, red chillies and curry leaves for seasoning and pour over the mango kichadi and serve
