Chicken Biriyani


Ingredients for chicken biriyani

Boneless chicken 500 grams.
Onion 5 nos.
Tomatoes 3 nos.
Garam masala 1 tsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Green chillies 8 nos.
Yogurt 2 tbsp.
Basmati rice 500 grams.
Cashew nuts split into two 3 tbsp.
Cinnamon a small piece
Cloves 5 nos.
Cardamom pods 5 nos.
Raisins 3 tbsp.
Butter 5 tbsp.
Coriander leaves chopped 4 tbsp.

Method of preparation for chicken biriyani
 
Heat ghee/butter in a pan and sauté the sliced onions till golden brown and keep aside.  Fry the cashew nuts and raisins in the same butter and keep aside.  Now saute the rice, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves in the same butter and add 4 glasses of water and cook on low flame with closed lids.

 

Cook the chicken adding the chopped onions, garam masala, green chillies, yogurt, tomatoes and salt.

 

 When the rice and chicken is cooked arrange them in a vessel in layers and heat it for a few minutes with closed lids.

 

Garnish the biriyani with the fried onion slices, cashew nuts, raisins and chopped coriander leaves.
