Dal fry is one of the most interesting and tasty recipes from north India and I have adapted it a bit to cater to my tastes. Try and enjoy this amazing preparation.

Toor dal

Onion (finely sliced)

Green chilli (finely chopped )

Tomato (diced)

Chilli powder

Turmeric powder

½ tsp

Ginger grated

1 tsp

Oil

2 tbsp

Mustard seeds

1 tsp

Fenugreek seeds

1 tsp

Coriander leaves

To garnish

Salt

To taste

Preparation

Cook the washed dal in a pressure cooker adding 2 cups of water. Take off
from the stove and crush the dal with a spoon to a pste. Heat oil in a pan.
Add mustard and fenugreek seeds and allow to pop(splutter). Add chopped onion,
green chilli and grated ginger and fry till onion changes colour. Add chilli
powder and tomato and cook till tomato becomes soft. Add dal mix and bring to
boil. Allow to simmer for some minutes.
Take off from the stove and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve hot with rice, chappathi, dosa,
