Chutney with Dried Schrimps (chemmeen chammanthy)

Ingredients
100 gram dried shrimps (clean head and tail away)
5 nos dried red chillies (vattal mulaku)
10 gram fresh ginger
100 gram grated coconut
10 gram tamarind
2-3 pieces garlic
Curry leaves
Salt to taste

Preparation
Fry the shrimps and red chillies in a low, thick bottomed pan on a low
flame. Stir the ingredients so often and take care that the dried shrimps
don`t get burned. When done take off the heat and leave it to coll.
Give the fried schrimps and red chillies in a grinder and grind them
well. Take the powder from the grinder. Add ginger, grated coconut, tamarind,
garlic, curry leaves and salt to the grinder and grind them well. When done
add the schrimp powder and run the grinder once more to mix them well.
A very delicious chutney to serve with rice, idly, dosa usw...
Serve this chutney fresh. Not very suitable for refrigerator that it may
lose its taste.
