Chicken Mappas


Ingredients


1.       Chicken 1 kg

Onion(finely sliced) 5 nos

Ginger (finely chopped) 3 tbsp

Garlic (finely chopped) 3 tbsp

Green chilli(sliced into two) 8 nos

Coriander powder 3 tbsp

Garam/chicken masala 4 tsp

Turmeric powder 1 tsp

Tomato 2 nos

2.       Milk form one coconut 1 1/2 cup (canned coconut- milk from shops or coconut milk powder can also be used)

3.       For seasoning

 

Mustard seeds   1 teaspoon

Small onions finely Sliced 1 tablespoon

Curry leaves    1 spring

Oil  2 tablespoon

 

Preparation


1.       Mix the chicken pieces with the half of the ingredients onion, ginger, garlic, coriander powder and turmeric powder and allow marinating for an hour. Cook adding 2nd coconut milk till chicken pieces becomes tender.

2.       Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and allow to pop. Add small onions, big onion, ginger, garlic, green chilli and curry leaves stirring well. Add the rest of coriander powder, garam masala and turmeric powder. After a minute add sliced tomatoes and stir well. Add cooked chicken coconut milk and mix well. Cook in lower heat for 5 – 10 minutes.

Serve with Pathiri, idiyappam, palappam …………
